About me
Christina Carlin serves as an Elementary Literacy Consultant in the Curriculum and Assessment unit of the District and School Services department at Oakland Schools. As part of this team, she supports districts across the county to improve teacher efficacy and student outcomes by providing professional learning, ongoing support, and consultation for district leaders, principals, literacy coaches, and teachers. Currently, the focus of her work is on the Essential Instructional Practices, Coaching Practices, and School-wide Organizational Practices. In her role as a Literacy Consultant, Christina is passionate about leveraging systems, coaching, and leadership to improve literacy outcomes for students.
Christina holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Michigan State University. She also holds a master’s degree in Reading and Language Arts and an education specialist degree in Leadership from Oakland University. Prior to joining Oakland Schools, Christina was an elementary teacher and reading specialist in West Bloomfield School District. She recently served as an elementary principal for ten years with the Walled Lake Consolidated School District. She has been an educator for twenty-four years and values working alongside the dedicated educators at Oakland Schools and throughout the county.
