Nekeya Irby is an Educational Improvement Consultant with Wayne RESA servicing multiple schools and districts throughout Wayne County in continuous improvement throughout Wayne County. She has worked as an educator for more than 25 years. She previously served as a teacher, curriculum supervisor, Executive Director of Professional Development, Deputy Network Leader of Instruction, and Senior Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Accountability for the largest urban district in the State of Michigan, Detroit Public Schools Community District. Nekeya holds a Professional Teaching Certificate and School Administrator Certificate and completed both her bachelors' and masters' degrees from Michigan State University. Nekeya is a Master Trainer for the Michigan Adverse Childhood Experiences Initiative and has had the pleasure of presenting at several local and district conferences including state-level Michigan Department of Education Conferences, Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) and internationally at the Teachers Teaching with Technology International Conference(T3TMIC). She is passionate about advocacy for students, especially students with exceptional needs and African-American girls. She also volunteers her time and expertise to empower youth and teachers to reach their full potential. Nekeya Irby holds professional learning as a sacred and necessary time as she journeys on her lifelong learning pursuit.
